Gulf Partners With Tribal Foundation For Better Health Service

A new private-public partnership was officially endorsed between Tribal Foundation andthe Gulf Provincial Governmentoto bring much needed medical equipment to health facilities inthe province.

 

The Gulf Province is slowly reviving its government’services by partnering with private organizations.

Yesterday,the provincial government’signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding with Tribal Foundation, a humanitarian organization that assists people in rural and remote areas.

 

Founder of Tribal Foundation, Gary Bestin was born and brought up in Papua New Guinea and understandsthe difficulties many face with accessing basic services.

 

There are seven major district health centers and one hundred community based health facilities inthe province, most of which do not havethe staff northe equipment to effectively servethe community.

 

Provincial Administrator, Mark Avai, said Tribal Foundation’s partnership complements that of Youth With A Mission or YWAM, who provide health care to rural people in Gulf.

 

Gulf province has one ofthe highest infant and maternal death rates because ofthe lack of access to health care services. Their government’s priority now rests in education and health for the 150 thousand plus population.

 

One-hundred thousand kina will be given to Tribal Foundation to assist with logistics and transporting ofthe materials whenthey reacPNG’shores.

 

Gulf province has already embarked on various infrastructure projects that will link allthe districts to encourage local economic activities, potential developers, and most importantly, encourage professionals to live and work inthe province.

 

Tribal Foundation has engaged various corporate partners to help seetheir mission come to fruition.
