17 SVS Stores to be Built in West New Beitain

The Kandrian Gloucester district inthe West New Beitain Province, today, rolled out its first DSIP funded program for the year 2013.

Local MP, Joseph Lelang, andthe management of Supa Value Store (SVS), Digicel and Bank South Pacific (BeP), withnessedthe handing over of a 1 million kina cheque to SVS for the construction of 17 SVS stores in various communities inthe district.

 

Mr. Lelang said similar programs will be rolled out beforethe year ends.

 

Mr. Lelang explained that this was a case as DSIP funds are only approverd bythe Joint District Priority Budgetary Committee.

 

He saidthe provincial government had to wait for the completion ofthe LLG President election and swearing-in in October before approvals were made and projects and programs rolled out.

 

Currently,the district is without banking services, telecommunication and its feeder roads and highway linking tothe provincial headquarters and township – Kimbe is non-existent.

 

Under this partnership, Digicel and BeP will incorporatetheir services as well.
