Enga’s Hydro Electric Project on track

Plans for the establishment ofthe Enga Provinces Hydro Power Plant are well under way.

 

Engineers fromthe Guandong Foreign Construction Company presented Governor Peter Ipatas with copies ofthe concept design after a two month feasibility study.

Enga Province is situated atthe end ofthPNG Power supply grid. This means consistent power supply is a problem, and blackouts a norm.

 

This poses a problem for many public utilities such as schools and hospitals. With plans for the construction ofthe new Enga Hospital, a reliable and constant power source is needed.

 

The Enga Hydro Power Plant which will be constructed atthe Lai River next to Wabag Town is expected to bring in more than just a consistent power source.

 

The proposed new Enga Hospital wasthe reason behindthe creation ofthe Hydro Power Plant. It will become an economic incentive for the hospital.   

 

A detailed design ofthe project will commence soon for approval bythe NEC.

 

Governor Ipatas also announced thatthe NEC has endorsed construction ofthe Enga Hospital.

 

He also revealed plans to establish a medical faculty withinthe hospital. A partnership will be established withthe University of Papua New Guinea
