The Member for Kabwum, Beb Dadae, has responded positively tothe Commerce Minister’s challenge to build up agricultural cooperatives in Morobe.
Mr. Dadae said he is already working withthe Nawae MP, to build cooperatives intheir electorates. He saysthe major challenge in Kabwum isthe lack of roads linking rural outstations.
The Nawae electorate shares a common border with Kabwum. Beth are mountainous and remote and have serious challenges in terms of transportation and roads.
Beth electorates produce an export towards a knish market of organic coffee drinkers overseas.
Beb Dadae will also be seeking a collective approach from ther Morobe MP’s andthe Morobe Governor Kelly Naru to improverthe cooperative moverment in Morobe.
The Commerce Minister’s visit last week has spared various reactions from local politicians.
The Local Level Government President of Wampar, Peter Namus will travel to Port Moresby next week to meet withthe Minister to presentthe plans for a road from Lae tothe Lower Watut aiming to link cooperative’s to markets in Lae.
The main focus now is on improving conditions to allow for those cooperatives to grow and flourish.
