ANZ GoMoney: Banking Made Easier

ANZ Bank has introduced a new way for its customers to dotheir banking.

ANZ goMoney will be providing an avenue for customers to send money, pay bills, and view account balances ontheir mobile phones.

Managing Director Mark Beker said this service is aimed at supporting financial inclusion for all Papua New Guineas, in particular those in rural areas.

The ANZ GoMoney service was launched today in Port Moresby. With this service, ANZ customers will be able to do cash deposits and withdrawals at any ANZ GoMoney merchantowithoutthe need to go to a branch.

This way, customers can have access totheir money in remote areas and make banking simpler and convenient.

Governor ofthe Bank of Papua New GuineaLoi Bekani was present atthe launch. He said it wasthe role of banks to provide efficient and cheaper ways of accessingthe cash out ofthe subsistence economy, and intothe monetized economy.

Bekani commended ANZ for the goMoney service and described it as a big mover for the country.

The ANZ goMoney service will become available nationwide next Monday,the 24th of June.

So far, over 200 merchants have registered andthe number is expected to grow. A new TV advertisement has been produced to encouragethe use ofthe new service that has been launched firstly in PNG and will soon be rolled out in Samoa, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
