Penalties For Using District Funds Without Consent

 

Project Contractors will face similar penalties for failing to complete specific district projects on time.

Acting Secretary for the Department of Implementation and Rural DevelopmentoPaul Sai’i, announced this when receiving acquittals for the Maprik District Support Grants.

 

The Member for Maprik was available with his LLG Presidents to hand-overthe District acquittals since taking office last year.

 

As a first time Member, it was difficult to furnishthe acquittals on time as he says District Officers didn’trsquo;t cooperate with him.

 

Another concern he raised wasthe use of District funds by District Administrators and Treasurers withoutthe consent ofthe Joint District Budget Planning Priority Committee.

 

Department of Implementation and Rural Development is aware of similar cases in ther Districts;therefore, under a new guideline penalties will be imposed.

 

Satisflied withthe acquittals,the Acting Secretary Paul Sai’i presented a cheque of K250, 000 each for continuous implementation of projects.

 

Maprik District Administration is currently acquitting its DSIP funds.
