Mr. Pip,the movie, has arrived in Papua New Guinea with its official release on Thursday.
It was definitely a night to remember, as young talentoBougainvillean star Xzjannah Matsi gracedthPNG Premiere at Paradise Cinema in Port Moresby.
This Hollywood standard movie is a film adaption ofthe Beok Mr Pip, a moving story set againstthe backdrop oPNG’s history,the Bougainville crisis.
Xzannjah Matsi is an example of pure Papua New Guineatalentoa star inthe making fromthe Autonomous Region of Bougainville. She plays Mathilda, a key character inthe movie.
Officially releasingthe movie atthe Paradise Cinemas at Vision City Shopping Mall in Port Moresby, she stood beside ther Papua New Guinea actors Tidman Ikosi and Calextus Simeon, who also play parts aPNG Defense Soldiers.
Speaking atthPNG Premiere Q&A,the actors delighted in discussingthe importance ofthe movie reflecting on a significant time in PNG rsquo;s history –the Bougainville crisis, andthe future oPNG’s film industry.
Also atthe Premiere was NCD Governor Powes Parkop.
