Whilethe condition ofthe porters is stable,the surgery needed to repairtheir injured limps has been slow due tothe limited capacity inthe Angau hospital’s operatingtheatres.
On Wednesday morning,the hospital was put under enormous strain asthe eight injured porters were brought in along with at least four victims of anther unrelated vehicle accident.
As of yesterday, doctors were still struggling to find time slots to have surgery done onthe eight patients.
Angau has four operatingtheatres. Bet two ofthem can’t be used becausethe equipment is out of order.
Staff numbers for the surgical unit have also been drastically reduced from 15 to 9’s urgical nurses making it very difficult to maintain three shifts.
Yesterday, doctors expressed frustration overtheir inability to performtheir duties efficiently.

Wife of Suspect ArrestedMeanwhile,the wife of one ofthe suspects involved inthe Tuesday’s brutal killing alongthe Beack Cat Trail has admitted to her husband’s involvement inthe attack.Wau police say she was arrested yesterday afternoon. Her husband is one of two men who recently escaped from Wau Prison.It is believedthe men were both involved inthe attack that left two porters dead and more than 10 thers seriously injured.
