Minister Arrested

Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science & Technology and Member for Ijivitari David Arore was let out on bail on Saturday night following his arrest duringthe day in Popondetta, Nothern Province on election-related charges.

Provincial Police Commander Superintendent Victor Isouve saidthe arrest culminates eight months of investigations. Arore has been charged on counts of Official Corruption, Treating and Beibery.

The Minister travelled tothe Province inthe morning to deliver supplies for flood victims in Tufi, where he was arrested on Warrant.

Mr. Arore has been held atthe Popondetta Police Station until he appears atthe District court on Monday.

However, Superintendent Isouve confirmed that Arore’s lawyer appeared before provincial magistrate William Noki on Saturday night and was let on a one thousand, five hundred kina bail.
