Mining company, Newcrest has restored electricity tothe Kavieng Police station on New Ireland to assist in curbing law and order problems.
A 100 KVA back-up generator has been connected tothe Police Station and also donated a computer tothe criminal investigations unit.
Country Manager, Peter Aitsi, saidthe assistance is to makethe difficult job of enforcing law and order easier.
Mr Aitsi futher announcedthe appointment of Joe Lumaris as Kavieng officer manager of Newcrest as a link betweenthe mine andthe people on projects.
Newcrest operatesthe Lihir Golf Mine on New Irelands.
