A near confrontation at a road check point in Port Moresby today wherethe driver of a Taxi objected tothe way he was handled by road safety officers.
The officers saidthe man became aggressive after being questioned about his number plates.
This isthe usual scene when traffic officers set up road blocks, taxi’s without number plates onthe front oftheir cars get pulled tothe side. It’s a daily occurrence and many times it’sthe same offenders doing it. The officers say sometimesthe culprits turn around whenthey see a road block from afar. Fines range from K3 to K100.
This man became verbal afterthe vehicle he was in was pulled aside. He arguedthe officers were not police sothey had no right to man-handle him.
