Zurenoc on National Prayer Day

Speaker of National Parliament, Theo Zurenouc will be hosting a Prayer breakfast when parliament sits on August 26th.

The speaker has invited pastors and church representatives from all churches to be part of this gathering.

August 26th is marked on Papua New Guinea’s national calendar as the National Prayer and Repentance day.

The Public Holiday was established back in Mid-August in 2011 by Prime Minister Peter O'Neill and his Government.

This year however, before Parliament resumes at 2pm, the public is expected to gather as early as 5am to start the day at Independence Hill with prayer and worship.

Pastors from all churches around the country are calling on business houses to observe the day as public holiday.

Parliamentarians, head of departments and Chief Executive Officers of all government agencies have been invited to part-take in the prayer breakfast.

For the public holiday was set up so people could come together and pray collectively and ask the lord to forgive us for the wrongs that have happened and are happening in our nation.
