LLGSIP Funds Yet To Be Released

Several Local Level Government Presidents have raised concern over the slow release of services improvement program funds.

One LLG President from Oro Bay in Northern Province has raised the concern about the delay in funds released.

Several others from Angoram District in East Sepik Province raised similar concerns earlier this week.

This LLG President from Oro Bay inn Ijivitari district, Northern Province wants concerned government agencies to fast track the release of LLGSIP funds for service delivery.

While commending the National government for channeling funds down to the district and LLGs, there is also growing concern as to how soon these funds can reach the wards in the district.

Mr. Ajariembo told EMTV that the first 1 hundred thousand kina for his LLG is still with the provincial treasury.

Similar concerns were also raised by 5 LLG presidents from Angoram who presented their acquittals to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development on Thursday. They claim that the late disbursement of LLGSIP funds to provincial treasury is another burden that halts service delivery

What the LLG presidents are now asking for is for the National government to release these funds straight into district treasury operating accounts.

In order for them to report back to the government on how 5 hundred thousand kina for the LLGSIP is implemented, the presidents want this process to be fast-tracked.
