Dika Toua could be the second Papua New Guinean to win a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games this year.
Despite already competing and coming second earning a Silver Medal, young 16 year old Nigerian opponent, Chika Amalaha who went onto winning Gold, has been tested positive for the consumption of an illegal substance, banned under the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Toua, at 30 years of age, made her nation proud securing a silver medal.
However, with the current speculation surrounding 16 year old Nigerian Gold Medallist, Chika Amalaha, who failed a drug test, Toua now has a good chance of winning her first Gold at the Commonwealth Games.
Chief Executive of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Mike Hooper has confirmed the suspension of the Nigerian weightlifter.
According to ABC News, Amalaha’s A sample contained amiloride and hydrochlorothiazide; substances both banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Amiloride and Hydrochlorothiazide is an oral supplement, which masks the usage of other drugs and increases weight loss.
Amalaha will be facing a series of tests in London tomorrow.
Until that decision is made, Dika Toua remains humble, and is anticipating her return to the Nation’s Capital, to rejoice with her Silver medal.
