The Employers Federation of Papua New Guinea has urged all employers to comply with the new minimum wage.
Executive Director, Florence Willie, says employers who have the capacity to meet the new minimum wage of K3.20, must not delay paying their workers.
Compliance is a must, and those who fail, will be held accountable.
Head of the Employers Federation, Florence Willie, admitted that compliance of the new minimum wage has always been an issue in the past.
With an increase this year, she hopes employers abide by the set minimum wage of K3.20.
The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations will be out to monitor compliance to the new level.
Mrs. Willie highlighted the need for consistency and fair playing field for employers.
she’said, the new minimum wage rate is a wakeup call for businesses not complying.
The robust economic climate of the country has played a major part in ensuring a new minimum wage. This will assist minimum wage earners to meet the high standard of living experienced today.
