A two-day training course on mobile banking is aimed at assisting vendors at Gerehu market to open Mi Cash accounts.
Sellers were trained on how to use this mobile banking application and how they can save money and obtain loans from the Nationwide Microbank.
Today, over 100 people at Gerehu Market underwent training. Mi Cash is a legal mobile banking service of the Nationwide Microbank.
This is a pilot project between the National Capital District Commission, UN Women and Safe Cities.
Currently, there are 125 registered vendors who are financially affiliated to the Gerehu Market Vendors Association.
As registered members of this association, the vendors are able to loan from the bank through mobile banking.
This training aims to create a mobile wallet for all registered members and since its' inception last April, locals have been saving profits from their sales.
Meanwhile, Gerehu market, which was initially closed last April, will most probably be reopened this October.
