The declaration of Don Polye has been described by rival candidates as illegal.
They say Don Polye has not reached the absolute majority and should never be declared by the returning officer.
They want the Electoral Commission to quickly address the issue.
Candidates contesting the Kandep open seat are calling on the electoral commissioner Andrew Trawen to nullify the declaration of Don Polye as the member for Kandep.
They say Don Polye has hijacked the electoral process by siding with the returning officer to declare him while five boxes were yet to be counted.
Counting for Kandep was suspended on Thursday last week, for it to continue on Friday; however, the returning officer went ahead and declared Don Polye when he did not reach the absolute majority.
The absolute majority was 24, 181; however, Don Polye polled only 23 678 well below the absolute majority.
The declaration was done without any quality check and elimination process.
Incumbent Enga governor Peter Ipatas expressed disgust on the declaration of Don Polye. He said the proper electoral process was not followed in declaring Don Polye and called electoral commission to take ownership of the matter and resolved.
