Port Moresby North-West counting to undergo quality check

Quality check for Moresby North – West started yesterday morning.

Returning Officer Karo Tiana confirmed that five boxes of the 108 ballot boxes have undergone quality check and this process has been continued since last night.

The quality check simply means Counting Officials will go through the ballot papers to ensure names are correct, there are right references and to detect informal votes which he says they have located quite a few.

After the quality check which he estimates to be about two days, they will undergo an elimination round.

However, after the Postal Count, which are votes from Defence, Police and those living in overseas Missions, PDM Candidate Miria Ikupu leads with 5, 295 votes followed by Unionists Michael Malabag with 4, 773 and Lawyer Loani Henao on third spot with 4, 640 votes.
