Alotau camp arrives in POM

People’s National Congress Party was invited on Wednesday by the Governor General to form the next government.

They arrived yesterday with their coalition partners from Alotau numbering more than 80 MPs.

In a short brief to the media by the prime minister and PNC leader Peter O’Neill said they had one of the best camps ever in the history of PNG.

He said the people have spoken and he is now ready with his coalition partners to deliver a government to the people of PNG.

To his deputy and leader of PNG Party Belden Namah, this was his message to him.

He said there was nothing wrong with recalling parliament today as more than 95% of the writs were returned and according to Section 81 (3) of the Organic Law, on National and Local Level Government Elections the Electoral Commissioner is allowed to receive those writs later than the date set for the return of writs.

Prime Minister O’Neill also said his party signed an agreement with the coalition partners in Alotau called the “Alotau Accord” in which all parties pledged their support to work with O’Neill and his PNC party.

It also contains a working plan with all the policies of each coalition partner incorporated into this plan.
