84-year-old media mogul, Rupert Murdoch, is preparing to step down from his position as Twenty-First Century Fox CEO, naming his son, James, as his successor.
While Rupert Murdoch is to remain chairman, his son James will work in partnership with his brother, Lachlan Murdoch, although Rupert will ‘still have the final say’ in company operations.
The reorder in positions is to be finalised as early as next week, and some key investors have already spoken favourably of James Murdoch’s leadership, describing him as a ‘risk taker’.
Fox News channel, however, has been accused in the past by political figures, academics and watchdog groups for their frequent, biased reporting, and even mocked continously by Fox’s own highly popular comedy shows, The Simpsons and The Family Guy.
