Over the past week, Landowners on Lihir Island mobilised to temporarily halt operations of the Lihir Mine – Much of this was on the back of dissatisfaction of what they claim was unnecessary delays by the State, as well as Newcrest – operators of Lihir Mine – in dealing with their outstanding demands – among which, the renegotiation of the Integrated Benefits Package, as well as the Lihir Mine MOA.
