by Delly Waigeno – EM TV, Port Moresby

Telikom PNG has announced a reduction in wholesale costs to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) operating across PNG.

Head of Telikom Wholesale, Wency Noruka, when making the announcement, said internet and data users in the country can expect a significant drop in their monthly costs.

Effective from July 1 this year, wholesale ISP prices will be reduced by up to 33% off the current wholesale price for data.

The announcement was made at Telikom Rumana this morning.

Head of Telikom Wholesale, Wency Noruka, said the reduction in price goes to all ISPs or Internet Service Providers like Datec, Daltron, Global and a few others, totalling 11 ISP’s.

He said that from the wholesale front, they hope that the reduced wholesale rate flows into the retail markets the ISP’s have.

Mr Noruka added they are expecting new businesses to take advantage of the drop in price and come into the market.

Head of Marketing, Xavier Victor, said Telikom has made significant progress with its 4-Point strategy, evolved around achieving network efficiency, people capability, product innovation & compatibility and ensuring that Telikom becomes more customer focused as a business.

Mr Victor added that the reduction of Telikom’s wholesale rate should be attractive to Small to Medium Enterprises wanting to develop an online presence.
