Preparations for the National Powerlifting team are well underway, with an invitational competition held on Sunday at the High Performance Training Centre, Port Moresby, after a two week training camp.
ifters from around the country took part, gearing up for the 2015 Pacific Games.
Team manager for team PNG powerlifting, Phil Priestly, said the team’s preparation is going well, and they have been working closely with Coach, Scott Upston, who has been impressed with the lifters work ethic toward the games.
The competition on the weekend saw International Referee, Pam Cutjar, officiate the competition, to give the lifters a feel of lifting under International Competition Guidelines.
Gold Medal prospect for the pacific games, Linda Pulsan, has been hard at work, preparing to attend the World Championships next month in Sweden.
Come the Pacific games in July, team PNG powerlifting aims to perform well on home soil and prepare to face stiff competition from Samoa and Nauru.
