Waigani Car Accident

By Lorraine Gabina – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Just days away from Christmas, drunk-driving has been the cause of yet another accident, along Port Moresby’s Waigani Drive, this morning during the 8 o’clock rush hour.

The speeding CRV ran into a ten-seater Land Cruiser; which then slammed into a Comfort Taxi, in front of Dream Inn, near Vision City Mega Mall.

Mr. John Dupi, driving the ten seater Land Cruiser, told EMTV News that he was heading towards Boroko, from Waigani, when he was hit by the CRV, which caused his vehicle to lunge forward, slamming into the taxi ahead of him.

The Comfort Taxi driver, Rock Moven, said he was confused as to what had happened with the other vehicles; and almost rammed into the concrete wall on the road-side when he was hit by the Land Cruiser.

Responding swiftly, Police apprehended two men, the driver of the CRV and his companion, following the accident. They were both drunk and had cartons of beer in their vehicle.
