National Rugby League side the Canterbury Bulldogs have visited the New Ireland Province at the end of each season since 2012, through a partnership with local, Leo Badcock.
The team has conducted numerous activities during their stay in the Province.
Leo Badcock has lived in New Ireland for a good number of years, and is the owner of the Kavieng Hotel. He is also a great fan of the Bulldogs, and is a corporate partner of the NRL club.
Together, they created community development projects for the team to carry out after every season.
Over the years, they have built classrooms for the Nehemiah Christian School, and have held rugby league clinics at different schools and communities in the Province.
This year, six players flew to Kavieng for the opening of the Nehemiah Christian School.
There are plans for them to return and continue their service in the province, but that all depends on the managers of the club. There are hopes of making it an annual visit, with many of the players showing interest in doing so.
