Gulf LNG Landowners Want Full Benefit from Project

by Stanley Ove Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

A group of landowners from the Elk-Antelope LNG in the Gulf Province want full benefit of services delivered to the Province from the National Government and the project developers.

They want assurance from the National Government and developers that services will be delivered.

Landowners Secretary, Andy Robert, told EMTV News the landowners will shut down the project if their demands are not met.

Gulf Province on the other hand has seen little Government services from its Provincial Government.

With its Governor, Havila Kavo, arrested last week for misappropriation of funds, the future of the Province now depends on this second LNG Project.

The landowners also demand the gas processing plant be built in Gulf Province and nowhere else.

“We don’t want to be like Hela Province,” Chairman Tom Lahio said.

They cautioned the National Government and the project’s developers to come clear on the benefits of the project.
