India High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, Madhava Chandra, has called on city residents to join in celebrating the first ever International Day of Yoga tomorrow.
The day will be commemorated in Port Moresby, beginning with the NCD Governors walk and a Yoga session at Ela Beach.
All this is to encourage people to embrace the goodness of Yoga and its benefits to human well-being.
Yoga may have its origins in India, but this ancient practice is embraced the world over.
It embodies unity of mind, body and soul to achieve full harmony.
Fazilah Bazari teaches Yoga to interested individuals around the world and in Papua New Guinea.
Yesterday, prominent women including the wife of Prime Minister Linda Babao joined Fazilah in one of her sessions.
Fazilah says, in dealing with the pressures of everyday life, practicing yoga allows an individual to appreciate life in its fullness, which contributes to good health and well-being.
The United Nations has recognised the importance of Yoga and has declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga.
The Day will be celebrated in Port Moresby with various activities and all are welcome to attend.
