Sir Peter Barter Commends ABG

Madang Businessman and long-time resident, Sir Peter Barter, during his political reign was heavily involved with Bougainville issues, as former Bougainville Affairs Minister.

At this time when the third Bougainville House of Representatives was sworn in on Monday this week, Sir Peter congratulated the Autonomous Bougainville Government with its Bougainville Electoral Commission for setting the precedence with the success conduct of its general election.

Sir Peter congratulated the re-election of Chief Dr John Momis, as the President and also Simon Pentanu as Speaker.

He said that this is a great signal for the future of the Autonomous Region.

“I have worked with Momis for many years, knowing his commitment to PNG as the first Decentralization Minister, followed by other national role and returning to Bougainville to contest and winning the Presidential seat, for the second term,” Sir Peter said.

Sir Peter said that Chief Dr John Momis return was determined with a huge mandate that speaks well for Bougainville’s future.

Simon Pentanu’s election as speaker his experience as National Parliament Clerk, the Ombudsman and his general respect of law will set an example of how provincial governments should prosper.

Sir Peter said, Bougainville’s immediate future will provide challenges, the first is to develop an economy that will support autonomy and determine the best way forward to and after the Referendum.
