PNG Life Care Receives Support

By Theckla Gunga – EM TV, Port Moresby

Life PNG Care, a foundation which looks after underprivileged children, is on its way to purchasing a new bus.

It comes as corporate organisations and business houses are providing the required financial support to ensure these children are safely and securely transported to and from school.

Today, Melanesian Trustee Service Limited gave a K15,000 donation towards the foundation’s drive for a bus.The presentation was made to Life PNG Care Director, Collin Pake, in Port Moresby this morning.

It will go towards the foundation’s Inaugural Charity Dinner which aims to raise funds to sponsor the education of these underprivileged children.

Since Life PNG Care’s establishment in 2013, Mr Pake and his wife have accommodated over 22 underprivileged children who are between 6 to 14 years.

Pake said the foundation would like to create a Christian, family-based environment for these children where leader qualities and life values are taught.

In the last parliament sitting, a law was passed to penalise the parents and guardians who allow their children to live or sell items beside the main roads. In Port Moresby, a number of non-governmental organisations are now working with the National Capital District Commission to accommodate and give these underprivileged children an education opportunity.

The Inaugural Dinner will be held in July and used as a funding drive in partnership with the National Development Bank.
