By Julie Badui Owa – EM TV Port Moresby

School fights and cult practices in schools have increased rapidly over the past months.

The question of why, how and what causes these violent behavior in schools, is still unanswered.

School-violence has resulted in many cases linked to student’s death, and installing fear in many innocent students.

Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands stressed that the only solution to prevent school violence, is educating young minds on value education by teaching social, moral and spiritual values to the student.

It was emphasised that practice of virtues and values education should be revised to accommodate the Standard Based Curriculum currently taught in schools.

Fr. Victor said that the Catholic agency is looking forward to collaborate with other Religious and education agencies encouraging values education, to help teach the students good deeds, preventing school violence and creating betterment of the society.
