By Lorraine Genia – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

Telikom PNG and the Oceania Football Confederation announced today, a partnership with EMTV and FM100 as the exclusive broadcasters in PNG of all OFC sanctioned football matches, for the next three years.

Chief Executive Officer of Telikom PNG, Michael Donnelly, said this partnership will allow EMTV to bring live and delayed coverage of all OFC championships, presidents’ cups, FIFA world cup qualifying matches, the OFC national cup and many more.

Furthermore, through this partnership EMTV will be able to have exclusive Australian A-League matches in PNG.

Mr Donnelly further added that through the partnership between EMTV, Telikom, OFC and FM100, the maximum number of people of PNG will have access to these top line matches.

EMTV will be broadcasting OFC matches through their multi-presentation platforms.

“These broadcast rights are exclusive to EMTV Analogue (free-to-air television), EMTV Online, EMTV Mobile, FM100, and EMTV Digital Pay TV that will start in January, next year”, said Chief Executive Officer of Media Niugini Limited, Bhanu Sud.

This partnership has placed EMTV at an advanced stage in its discussion with FIFA on other international tournaments, including the coverage of the U20 Women’s World Cup, to be hosted in PNG, as PNG’s exclusive broadcaster.

“As president of the OFC, I will be helping to push for EMTV’s coverage as a preference, through recommendations for all FIFA events,” said David Chung.

Chung says, it is one of OFC’s visions to develop the game and popularise the sport, and the need for televising football, can help in this regard.
