The directors of West Coast Shipping Services Limited have been arrested and charged over the Gulf relief supplies saga.
Mumbi Kaniku and Helen Ove were charged for misappropriating over K790,000 of Gulf disaster relief funds.
West Coast Shipping Services was one of two shipping companies responsible for delivering relief supplies to Kerema.
Boroko Police were tight lipped over the arrest of owners of West Coast Shipping Services Limited, Mumbi Kaniku and Helen Ove.
However family members of the accused confirmed that the duo were arrested yesterday and charged for misappropriation.
Helen was released on bail late yesterday afternoon, while Mumbi Kaniku was refused bail.
Their arrest follows calls for an investigation by the Chief Secretary, Sir Manasupe Zurenuoc.
Sir Manasupe says, the government released close to K1.08m last September to deliver the relief supplies.
However, the shipping companies failed to deliver the supplies, leaving it to rot at Tubuseria village.
The two shipping companies, West Coast Shipping Services Limited and Mundi Nambawan Limited were condemned by the National Maritime Safety Authority.
NMSA maintains that West Coast Shipping Services Limited is a ghost company, while Mundi Nambawan Limited has long standing compliance issues.
Investigations are continuing and further arrests will be made on those individuals involved.
