Water and sanitation projects are among key projects for over 30 thousand villagers in the Yangoru Sausia district this year.
Local MP and Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry Richard Maru said 5 communities have been identified this year, where water supply and proper toilet facilities will be established.
Minister Maru visited his electorate and presented another K50 thousand to the Wamean health center.
A health center at Wamean village is one of the five communities identified.
It was built in the 1960s.
Since then, it never received any attention.
The center serves about 10 thousand people from the 15 communities in the Numbo LLG.
Community Health Worker, Charles Amae is the only staff serving patients in the center.
He serves up to 20 people every day. This one building health facility provides outpatient services.
Only one staff house accommodates Mr. Amae and his family.
The JDP & BC approved their K10 million DSIP budget last week and allocated another K50 thousand to the health center.
This fund will be used to construct a new fully kitted staff house.
The minister, also the chairman of the Joint District Priority & Budgetary Committee, approved K50 thousand last year for the center.
The money has been used to construct a new wing.
Once completed, services such as HIV and AIDS counseling, family planning and other specialty clinical services will be provided.
Community leaders could not express their appreciation more, saying this was a great blessing for their people.
They also thanked the minister and the district administration for committing to construct a better market place for the Wamean people along the highway.
