Garamuts Train for 2014 Under 19 World Cup

The Garamuts are optimistic to follow their big brother’s footstep as they fly the red, black and gold on the Arabs’ pitch.

It’s gym session time for the gallant Garamuts as they gear up for the 2014 Under 19 World Cup.

Despite the dull weather yesterday afternoon, the five young PNG- based Garamuts were in the gymnasium, tonight themselves, while calmly set to take the world stage.

PNG U19 Hebou Garamuts had success stories from their earlier world meets. It may not be the first and last to have the team compete in such a campaign.

The Garumuts are embracing the Barras’ success as they prepare for the U19 World Cup tournament to be staged in the United Arab Emirates.

The tournament will be held on the 15th to 28th of February, 2014.

Coach John Ovia is confidant his boys will put up a good show, while having fun on the field.

He commended Hebou Construction Company for its support.

10 players are currently on the Gold Coast, Australia, playing for several clubs.

Star Batsman, Dogodo Bau will captain the team for the second time. This youngster displays a stunning captaincy record and remains positive while staying focused as the campaign unfolds.

Alei Nao and Kabua Vagi Morea, who are currently down South, are the only players to have played in the previous 2012 Australia U19 World Cup where they led the team to victory.

The Garamuts are pooled with reigning champions, India as well as Pakistan and Scotland.

Their first match against Scotland falls on the 15th, followed by Pakistan on the 17th and then round off their pool matches against India on the 19th of February 2014.
