Community leader Pesa Takos confirmed this morning that a Police manhunt for the three alleged suspects of the rape and murder of a mother in Morobe’s Nabak LLG has begun.
“Tent City Police are collecting information from sources and have begun chasing down the three suspects,” he said.
The partially decomposed body of the mother of four was found two days ago in an abandoned well at Gobadik Village. She went missing four days earlier.
The woman was a widow, and the youngest of her four children was still breast-feeding.
The body hasn’t been moved as yet, however the Provincial Disaster Office and Angau Morgue have both been notified.
Police and community leaders are working together to bring the suspects to justice. Tension in the area is still high, with Gobadik village leaders keeping the relatives of the woman relatively calm.
Despite their frustrations and anger, the family demand that the culprits are brought to justice.
On February 15, Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, said the culprits must be caught and must face the full force of the law.
Law and Order Committee members and the Interim President for Nabak have been working closely with Police to apprehend the suspects.
