Students From Rural Areas Are Top Performers

In measuring students’ performance, it was found, most students achieving high academic results are those from rural areas of Papua New Guinea.

Deputy Principal Administration for Sogeri National School of Excellence, Vivian Nesen, who was in-charge of academic, for many years, revealed to EMTV News, in comparision, they perform extremely well than those raised in towns and cities.

“Most top performing students who have excelled in academic studies come from the rural areas,

“You can imaging, someone from Nuku, Koroba coming here to Sogeri and giving all amazing results. This is big achievements for the School,” she said.

Mrs Nesen said students from rural areas do not take advantage but work hard to achieve good academic results.

And Sogeri’s academic results have shown significant improvement overtime.

“Generally, there is an upward trend. Students have been encouraged to maintain performance,”

Classes began on a high note but the school still needs two teachers.

600 students have enrolled, manned by 27 teachers.

“Despite classes starting straight on time, we still need two teachers. They are to fill up the gaps.”

Meanwhile in the coming week, new infrastructure for Sogeri National School of Excellence will be commissioned.

Deputy Principal, Administration, Vivian Nesen, says the infrastructure will boost teaching and learning, for the school to continue achieve its results.

Several government officials will be present for the event.
