British lawmakers have called Donald Trump all manner of names during a debate on whether to ban him from entering the United Kingdom.
The debate came as a result of his comments on Muslims. Though Trump was openly and ruthlessly criticised, Prime Minister David Cameron does not support the idea of banning him from entering Britain.
The three-hour debate was not followed by a vote as only Interior Minister, Theresa May, can issue an order banning entry into Britain and Prime Minister Cameron has said that while Trump’s comments were divisive, he does not favour barring him.
The unusual debate which saw Trump being called a ‘buffoon’ and ‘bonkers’ was triggered by a petition signed by more than half a million people calling for him to be barred from Britain.
According to Democrat Unionist, Gavin Robinson, Trump’s remarks are for the purpose of attracting limelight.
Angered by his remarks, Robinson is ready to confidently challenge Trump.
During the heated debate at the Westminster Hall, Robinson said “Bring him here, let us have the opportunity to challenge him and let him go home with his tail between his legs and recognise that the principles he espouses no longer reflect this country, the United States of America or the aspirations we should all seek to promote internationally.”
