Kagamuga Airport Gets New Fire Trucks

By Michelle Amba – EM TV News, Mt.Hagen

Kagamuga International Airport in Mt Hagen has received two new fire trucks through the Civil Aviation Development Investment Program (CADIP).

This is to ensure that Kagamuga meets international civil aviation safety and security standards.

These fire trucks, including one vehicle, were commissioned this morning at Kagamuga Airport.

The new machines are the latest technology and have been built to withstand all conditions; more advanced than what was previously being used.

Under the same program funding (CADIP), Jackson International Airport has three new fire trucks for safety and compliance.

Following Mt Hagen, Lae and Kokopo will follow suit with new vehicles.

Through CADIP the National Airports Corporation (NAC), with the support of the national government and the Asian Development Bank loan arrangement, the plan will revitalise and maintain all infrastructure at airports in the country.

Chief Fire Officer for NAC’s Safety and Compliance, Joseph Uin, said his staff has been trained on how to operate these fire trucks.

“I am confident the guys can handle these fire trucks. And, I would like to thank the national government, NAC and ADB for realising this important need, safety is priority,” said Uin.
