Oro Youths Surrender

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV News, Port Moresby

More youths in the Oro Province are surrendering their weapons, homebrew equipment and uprooted marijuana plants.

This follows a police operation to restore law and order in the province.

The province in recent years has seen an increase in the number of homebrew and drug related crimes.

Since taking office last year, Provincial Police Commander, Lincoln Gerari, launched the police operation last year to address this law and order problem.

The operation has so far proven to be a success with many youths cooperating with police.

Several youths have also been sentenced to prison for their various crime.

Meanwhile, others are still awaiting their trials at the Popondetta District Court.

“Time has come for a change in our attitudes and we must all ensure that change is achieved peacefully.”

Gerari also urged his policemen and women to strive to maintain discipline to earn the respect of the public to assist them.
