The PNG Sport Foundation today signed a lease agreement with PNG Bowls Limited, for usage of the Bisini Lawn Bowls Green, in the nation’s capital.
This is the first official lease agreement between the Foundation and a sporting federation since the land was compulsorily acquired by the Government for upgrading of all venues in 2015.
While this lease agreement is the first, following the upgrading and construction of sports facilities in the country, chief operations officer of the PNGSF’s Venue Management arm, David Aua, has given the federations assurance, that there are plans to formalise similar agreemen’s with several other sporting codes in the country.
Director of Corporate Services, Micah James, said this is a step in the right direction for the PNG Sport Foundation as it aims to strengthen ties with all codes and federations.
“This is the first time for PNGSF to have actually formally signed an agreement with the PNGSF and a national federation, for that matter the PNG Bowls Limited,” said James.
The lease agreement for the usage of the lawn bowls green will now pave the way forward for PNG Bowls Limited to conduct and introduce a number of their programs for the year 2016.
The sport is currently heavily male dominated.
Kevin Kautu wants to address, as president of PNG Bowls Limited, the reinforcement of women’s competitions, and junior development programs to ensure the legacy of bowling is maintained in the years to come.
“It’s a new era for bowling. For me, my effort now is to bring bowling to a new level,” Kautu said.
