Much emphasis and focus has been placed on women’s empowerment and development in the country of late, with the PNG Women’s Forum held just last week, and International Women’s Day celebrated on Tuesday.
The Pride of PNG Awards for Women is no exception.
Yesterday, City Pharmacy Limited (CPL) launched its 10th Pride of PNG Awards for Women Initiative in Port Moresby.
The awards are part of CPL’s efforts to empower women, through recognising their contribution towards the country’s development.
Lynda Babao-O’Neill, wife of the Prime Minister, was on hand at the official launching as a proud advocate for women in this country.
City Pharmacy Limited Chairman, Mahesh Patel, speaking during the event said the Pride of PNG Awards for Women recognises the work of female leaders in the country.
“CPL has been the mirror of the unsung heroic women of Papua New Guinea for 10 years,” Patel said.
One of the award’s former recipients was 2014 Young Women of PNG Award winner, Bronwyn Kili.
“I thanked CPL for recognising my community service work in the country, and for creating a pathway for young women to participate in local and international women’s forum,” she said.
This initiative is supported by media partners Post Courier, EMTV and PNG FM.
