The Port Moresby Gold has made it eight wins in a row, defending the title as the National Softball Champions in the women’s side.
Gold defeated sister team, Port Moresby Whit’s, in the National Softball Championship Grand Final in Port Moresby today.
Despite heavy rains this morning in the nation’s capital, championships finals proceeded at the Bisini Diamonds.
Gold proved their worth with an undefeated win against Port Moresby Whit’s.
Gold opened the score board, registering seven runs in the first inning.
But it was not until Golds’ Lisa Polum slugged the ball to the outfield that brought her sisters home in the remaining innings.
Gold was then declared as the 2016 Women’s title holder, defeating Whit’s in a score of 17-2.
Captain, Nadia Bais, was proud of Golds’ achievement and thanked the players for their commitment.
Meanwhile in the men’s grand final match, Port Moresby Mero defeated Port Moresby Kakais with a 9-6 win.
