New High School for Daulo District Opens

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EMTV, Port Moresby

After 20 years of negotiation and consultation, Daulo District in Eastern Highlands has established its first high school.

Daulo MP, Ron Ganarafo, said previous leaders pushed authorities for this institution to serve the people of Daulo.

The new high school is the first for the people of Daulo. Many who branded it as a fail project criticised the development of the institution. But after almost 20 years, constant funding using DSIP funds has resulted in history being made for the people and leaders of Daulo District.

“We will support to develop this learning institution to secondary level, but it will cost around K7 million to achieve this plan,” said Ganarafo.

Pioneer Headmaster James Nubu says many challenges will be faced seeing it is a new school. Nubu said discipline is the key to achieving good results.

“Many schools in the country are not performing because of discipline issues both students and staff,” Nubu said.

“We will make sure students are given the best possible education opportunity to compete with other schools in the country,” he added.

Eight staff houses and two new school trucks were also launched to support the school.

The Daulo District Administration called upon locals to embrace this development as it prioritizes education to develop its human resource.

Thousands flock to Daulo Station to witness the opening.
