Justice Minister and Member for Madang Open, Bryan Kramer who last week tested positive for COVID-19 people to take precautions to protect themselves and those in their communities.
Kramer was tested for COVID-19 last week following reports of members of parliament testing positive to COVID-19. Kramer’s results returned positive that same afternoon prompting him to go into self-isolation right away.
Kramer said during the time of testing, he had not shown any symptoms of COVID-19, however, had been experiencing flu-like symptoms the next morning causing him to feel light headed.
By midday, he experienced a mild headache and a fever and by the evening the he had developed a dry cough and muscle pain.
In a statement Kramer said the headache and muscle pain intensified by day three and began to subside by day four.
“I am now on the road to recovery. I was fortunate to have a very mild case of COVID-19, which did not require hospital care.”
“With no medical treatment for COVID-19, whether or not we recover, are hospitalised, or die, will depend on the health of our immune system,” said Kramer.
Kramer said misinformation and public stigma toward those who have come into contact with COVID-19 are of very serious concern.
“Yes, you can get very seriously ill and die from CVODI-19. You are most susceptible if you’re are poor health, diabetic or overweight, all of which can lead to a weak or compromised immune system.”
Kramer is strongly urging the public to take serious precaution, and protect yourselves and your families and communities by wearing your masks at all times, sanitizing your hands and avoiding large crowds.
