Dentists around the world say, brushing your teeth two times a day with fluoride toothpaste goes a long way in protecting your teeth and keeping your gums healthy, According to General Manager of Colgate-Palmolive PNG, John Wood.

Over 430, 000 participants around the nation took part in the National Tooth Brushing Day today. The official launch was held in Port Moresby at Boroko Primary School where over 1,000 students and staff in both elementary and primary grades participated in this celebration with another 400 thousand participants joined in from other provinces.

This event saw everyone take 3 minutes to brush their teeth together as a nation and acknowledge the importance of tooth brushing and maintaining good oral health. This initiative is one of the many programs which complements Colgate’s global school health education program ‘Bright Smiles, Bright Futures’.

Colgate Palmolive (PNG) says they have reached over 1.2 million PNG children since it started nine years ago.  Nearly 800 schools and more than 60 communities and organizations around the country participated in this event.

According to Colgate Palmolive (PNG) programs and events such as this are aimed at reminding PNG of the importance of tooth brushing and how maintaining oral hygiene by brushing your teeth does not have to be dull and boring practice but it can be fun and a much needed exercise for the whole family. With these reminders, Colgate aims to help develop a long life habit of good oral hygiene.

And as each year goes by, more participants continue to register for the National Tooth Brushing Day to encourage people of all ages to keep PNG smiling.
