INA: Government should consider easing tax burden

By Meriba Tulo – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Despite the economy showing signs of slight improvement, the Institute of National Affairs has cautioned the National Government to ensure that the taxation burden is not borne by the workers in the workforce alone.

When speaking to EMTV News, INA Executive Director, Paul Barker has advised for Government to consider easing the tax burden on the working class, who he believes have been over-burdened with tax unfairly.

An option that could be considered would be to slightly increase Goods & Services Tax, which may prove unpopular in the immediate future.
