With the need to have Internationally accredited Engineers in the resource sector, Kumul Petroleum has embarked on a partnership with University of Technology.
This week, KPHL presented funding of One Hundred & Forty-Four Thousand Kina to UNITECH – these funds to go towards the purchasing of equipment to assist in upgrading the accreditation level of the university.
UNITECH is currently in the process of signing up to an International Accreditation Standard.
In light of the increasing demand for engineers in Papua New Guinea’s resource sector, National Oil & Gas company Kumul Petroleum Holdings this week cemented their support for the University of Technology.
Managing Director, Wapu Sonk, presenting K144 Thousand Kina to UNITECH Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr Ora Renagi.
According to Mr Sonk, the need for adequate equipment was critical, particularly at this time when the demand for competently trained engineers is high.
This support is also timely, as the university embarks on being accredited under the International Standard, the Washington Accord.
Over the last three years, UNITECH has been working with Industry through an Industry Advisory Board, in trying to improve the standards and certifications for UNITECH graduates.
