Joint Security Task Force Parade a Success

The general public in Port Moresby today witnessed at the Sir John Guise stadium, the launching of the Joint Security Task Force (JSTF) operations for APEC 2018.

Members of Papua New Guinea’s three disciplinary forces paraded to mark the start of the country’s biggest security operation.

JSTF is a team of 22 law enforcing agencies that is primarily responsible for the security of world leader’s during the APEC Summit week.

The parade was led by the Correctional Services pipes and drums band, with additional music provided by the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary band.

Present also were members of the PNG Defence Force, the Australian Defence Force, New Zealand Army and PNGDF’s Naval officers, and their air men and women.

Over 300 people who were present had the opportunity to listen to the keynote address given by the minister responsible for APEC, Justin Tkatchenko.

When addressing members of JSTF, Minister Thatchenko congratulated security personnel in the country who have committed their time to ensure PNG delivers a safe and secure APEC meeting.

He said this was a historical occasion, and for the first time the 22 law enforcing agencies in the country will be working together to ensure proper security is provided on this important occasion.

He concluded by saying that the APEC Leader’s meeting is a great opportunity for our country to showcase our cultures, traditions and lifestyle.
