All schools in Morobe Province will now receive their 85% of Tuition Fee Free funds directly from Morobe Provincial Administration through the National Government.
Education Minister, Nick Kuman said the 15% will be held back by the Government to cater for procurement cost to contractor responsible for distribution of teaching and learning materials to schools in remote areas.
A MoA was signed yesterday (31 October, 2018) by Morobe Provincial Administration and the Education Department to strengthen the functions of TFF in the Province.
Teachers from the schools in Lae and other district in Morobe gathered yesterday at the St. Pauls Primary School in Lae to witness the signing of the MoA between the Morobe Provincial Administration and the Department of Education.
The signing was to strengthen the decentralization of 85% of Tuition Fee Free Funds to the Schools on Morobe Province.
Education Minister, Nick Kuman said the 15% will be held back by the Government.
Over the past years, most schools throughout the country have raised concerns over the delay of TFF funds into schools and their outstanding TFF payment by the Government.
Morobe was one of the Province that was affected with outstanding in TFF Payments.
With the signing of the MoA, the 85% of TFF payments will be paid directly to schools by the Provincial Administration.
Morobe is the third province to decentralize TFF apart from Enga and New Ireland Provinces.
Morobe Provincial Administration will facilitate the TFF payment to schools, monitor implementation and report on the distribution of the TFF funds.
The Governor for Morobe, Ginson Saonu says there will be mechanisms in place to monitor and manage the TFF money in Morobe.
