Break and Enter in Madang: 3 criminals caught while one escaped

More than K30,000 worth of cash and items were stolen, following a break and enter incident in one of the shops in Madang early yesterday(October 22).

Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector, Ben Neneo, says 4 suspects cut open the back fence and gained access into the shop.

Neneo says the security guards stationed at the shop apprehended 3 of the criminals, while one got away.

From police reports, four suspects, armed with a factory-made pistol and other items used as weapons, broke into the shop through the back and ransacked the shop, stealing K23,000 of cash, and other items like phones and flex cards, worth thousands of kina.

Police have not ruled out the possibility of an inside job and will be questioning employees and security guards.

Three of the suspects caught were badly beaten, and taken to the Modilon General Hospital.

According to police, one of the suspects is still in the hospital, while the other two are now at Beon jail. Police have yet to recover the money and items stolen as the investigation continues.

The PPC is appealing to the general public with vital information, to come forward and assist police curb crime, he has also issued a stern warning to criminals to refrain from committing criminal activities, as they will be dealt with by the law if caught.
